Kondoa district is located in Dodoma region in the central part of Tanzania at latitude 4 12” to 5 38.5 south and longitude 35.6” to 36.2” east, with an area of 13210 square kilometers. One third of the area is covered with natural vegetation and reserves. About 69% in 9246 square kilometres is used farming and keeping livestock. Large part of the district lies between 900 meters to 2190 meters above sea level.
The area is one of the places where Malaria, Typhoid, Pneumonia, Asthma, Tuberculosis, Diarrhea, and HIV/AIDS is common. HIV/AIDS prevalence is high and has caused the presence and the growing number of many orphans and widows who could not fully work and operate to provide for good and quality education, health services and daily support to their families. Not only that but also there is water shortage within the village.
So Ereto East Africa Foundation decided to facilitate Kondoa community by focusing on the needs of identified orphans, children from poorest of the poor families, growing numbers of street kids, and widows within the area by providing education, health services, water supply, HIV/AIDS education and, Community and Church Leadership development.
